What the severity levels mean

The P1 clock runs 24/7 on every plan. Service hours follow the operating schedule you set for each venue — a P2 during Saturday dinner service is inside the clock; the same ticket at 10am Monday for a dinner-only venue is not.

P1

Service down

Cannot take payment, cannot fire orders to the kitchen, POS will not boot, all terminals at a location down, or the guest rail is down.

P2

Degraded

One terminal or printer down, KDS not receiving, online ordering down, split-check or discounts broken.

P3

Impaired

Reporting wrong, menu edits not propagating, integration sync lag.

P4

Minor

Cosmetic issues, configuration help, feature requests.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every plan includes a 30-day free trial. No credit card required to start.

Do I need special hardware?

No. SSP POS runs on any modern smartphone or tablet. Our software-defined tap-to-pay works without traditional POS terminals.

What counts as a billable guest transaction?

Only completed guest-initiated payments on the guest rail — QR or NFC table pay, Scan.SPLT.Pay, and web ordering. Each split payer counts separately: a four-top splitting the bill is four transactions. Payments your staff take on SSP Waiter are covered by your subscription. The line is simple: staff-initiated is subscription, guest-initiated is transactional — we only charge when the guest rail is actually working for you.

What never gets billed?

Failed or declined authorizations, refunded or voided transactions (credited on your next invoice), orders ingested from third-party delivery marketplaces, and $0 transactions such as comps or fully discounted checks.

Can I pass the transaction fee through to guests?

Yes, on every plan — a per-location setting that is off by default. Pass-through is the exact fee only, never a markup, and the platform automatically discloses it before the guest commits and itemizes it on the receipt, keeping you inside surcharge-disclosure rules such as Florida's SB 606.

What happens if you miss an SLA?

If we breach a P1 response target, we waive your transaction fees for the affected day — when the guest rail is down, we stop earning too. Three P1 breaches in a rolling quarter and you can terminate without penalty.

Can I switch plans later?

Absolutely. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time; changes take effect on your next billing cycle. On annual plans, your transaction rate is locked for the term.

What payment processors do you support?

SSP Payments is powered by Stripe Connect. On Business and Enterprise plans you can also bring your own payment processor, so you keep the rates you have already negotiated. Card processing costs are separate from the platform's per-transaction fee shown on this page.

When does Enterprise make sense?

Once you are running multiple brands or regions, need white-label apps, custom plugins, procurement and security review, or a named contact who knows your rollout. Volume-banded transaction rates start at $0.10. Email sales@ssppos.com and we will scope it with you.
